Anode saturable reactors are one of the most important protective devices in high-voltage DC transmission converter valves. It is used to protect the converter valve from damage caused by high voltage surges and adverse weather conditions. The valve reactor is an essential component in HVDC transmission systems, specifically designed to protect thyristors within converter valves. Based on structural differences, valve reactors can be categorized into two types: shell-type structures without damping devices and core-type structures with damping devices. Both designs provide identical protective functions, while the shell-type structures feature the advantage of low noise, and the core-type structures have the benefit of reduced temperature rise.
Through years of independent research and development, SUN.KING Technology successfully achieved domestic production of anode saturable reactors for high-voltage DC transmission in 2009, becoming the only Chinese supplier of this product. In April 2010, it was awarded the "National Energy Science and Technology Achievement Appraisal" certificate by the National Energy Administration. By the end of 2023, a total of 23478 anode saturable reactors have been supplied to 35 high-voltage and ultra-high voltage direct current transmission projects.
