The Static Var Generator utilizes high-power, switchable power electronic devices (such as IGBTs) to form a self-commutated bridge circuit. This circuit is connected to the power grid in parallel through a reactor. By appropriately adjusting the magnitude and phase of the output voltage on the AC side of the bridge circuit, or directly controlling its AC side current, the circuit can absorb or generate reactive current as required, achieving the purpose of dynamic reactive power compensation.
